Copy or Line Editors and Proofreaders, It’s Your Turn!

We’re growing! Etopia Press is looking for a few good copyeditors and proofreaders to add to our freelance team.

We recently engaged a few terrific new content editors, and now we need additional copyeditors and proofreaders too!

We’re looking for experienced line editors or copyeditors who know CMOS and the ins and outs of polishing fictional prose for publication. Copyeditors work directly with the production staff and managing editor, and do not have contact with the author. We pay a flat fee per word, not a risky percent of sales, so you’ll get a paycheck every month. MS Word 2007 or above and a working knowledge of the track changes and comments features are required. Open Office is not acceptable for this position.

As for proofreaders, if you’re a book lover and have a background in writing, or maybe majored in English or are the go-to person at your workplace for writing or proofing documents and correspondence, then you have the kind of background you need to proofread for us. Beyond that, you need only be a complete perfectionist and have a nit-picky eye that sees the mistakes in all the news articles and cereal boxes you read. And you must have MS Word 2007 or later. We’ll provide the rest.

Please send your resume with your relevant editing or proofing experience, including any publishers you’ve formerly edited or proofed for (or currently edit or proof for) to Melissa Bell at: managingeditor@etopia-press.net.

We look forward to adding you to our team!
